XP Curve - 1.25x or 1.1x Experience

XP Curve - 1.25x or 1.1x Experience

Levels cost less, so every source of XP is worth more: missions, tasks, scans and kills alike, not just enemies. The modest alternative to the double XP and instant max level mods. 1.25x and 1.1x versions. Edits only the player level curve, nothing else.

Why it exists

I made this one for myself. I was running the Deep Space Explorer armour for its Encounter XP Increase and I did not want to give that bonus up, but I did want to wear other armour. This mod is how I got both.

The Deep Space Explorer set comes from the Deluxe, Super Deluxe and pre-order editions, out of the Special Delivery Cache in the Pathfinder's quarters on the Tempest. It is two pieces:
[]Deep Space Explorer Helmet: +10% Encounter XP Increase[/]
[]Deep Space Explorer Chest: +15% Encounter XP Increase, +5% weapon damage[/]
That is +25% together, the highest Encounter XP in the game. Wearing it costs you a lot:
[]The chest is a full body piece. It takes the arms and legs slots with it, so three of your four armour slots are gone, and the helmet takes the fourth.[/]
[]Both pieces are Rank I only. They cannot be crafted or upgraded, so their stats stay where they started while the rest of your gear scales with you.[/]
[]Encounter XP Increase applies to kill XP only. Missions, tasks, scans and exploration, which is where most of a playthrough's XP comes from, get nothing.[/]
So the whole loadout goes to a fixed Rank I set, in exchange for a bonus on a fraction of your XP. This mod is the way out of that trade. Wear the armour you actually want, and get the experience back in a form that applies to everything.

What it does

Every level costs 80% of its vanilla XP, so all experience is worth 1.25 times as much. The XP mods already on Nexus are all or nothing, double XP or instant max level. This is the small version.

It works on the level curve rather than on individual rewards, which means every source of XP counts the same: missions, tasks, scans, exploration and kills alike. Nothing is rebalanced in favour of combat.

A 1.1x version is included for anyone who wants a nudge rather than a boost.

What it changes

One asset,
game/progression/singleplayer/progression_player_sp
, which holds the cumulative XP needed for each level from 2 up to the 132 cap. Every threshold is divided by the multiplier and rounded up.

Nothing else is touched:
[]No change to XP rewards, so quest and task values stay vanilla[/]
[]No change to skill points per level[/]
[]No change to the Nexus / AVP viability system, which does not run on XP[/]
[]No change to squadmate progression assets[/]
Installation
[]Extract the .fbmod into your Frosty Mod Manager mods folder[/]
[]Tick it in the manager[/]
[]Launch the game through Frosty[/]
Use one version at a time, either 1.25x or 1.1x, never both.

Using it mid-playthrough

It works on an existing save, with one thing to know first. Lowering the thresholds revalues the XP you already have, so you will jump several levels the moment you load. A character at level 12 with 17,789 XP comes back as level 14. That is the mod working as intended, not a bug.

Removing the mod does not undo that. Once you save at the new level, the level stays even if you untick the mod. Keep a save from before you install it.

Skill points are calculated from your level rather than stored separately, so a multi-level jump should award them normally.

Compatibility

Anything that does not touch the same progression asset. It does not conflict with mods that change XP rewards, though stacking the two means multiplying their effects together.

Not compatible with Fake Level Cap, LevelUp, Instant Max Level, or any other mod that edits the player level curve.

Credits

The vanilla curve was recovered from the copy of the progression asset shipped inside Fake Level Cap by GuitunScarfin, which is otherwise untouched. Thanks for making it reachable without a full editor pass. None of that mod's own changes remain in this one.
