Guiding Wisps
Blue, purple and green wisps are benevolent spirits. When approached, they begin guiding the player toward a nearby
forest grave or hidden treasure.
Red wisps are dangerous. Instead of treasure, they may lead the player toward a bandit or Cuman camp.
A guiding wisp appears approximately 72 metres from the player and starts moving toward its destination once the
player comes within 50 metres. It waits if the player falls behind and gradually fades when approached within 5
metres.
After a guiding encounter is completed, another guiding wisp will not appear until the following in-game day.
If a newly spawned wisp never enters the player’s field of view, it disappears after 16 seconds and attempts to spawn
again a few seconds later. This prevents encounters from being wasted because the spirit appeared behind the player or
behind an obstacle.
Dancing Wisp Groups
Rarely, the player may encounter two, three or four wisps dancing together in the forest.
Each wisp receives a random existing colour and moves independently around the group. These encounters are purely
atmospheric and do not guide the player anywhere.
The group continuously follows the terrain beneath it and spawns only in a checked open area. When the player
approaches within 30 metres, all members gradually fade away.
A natural dancing group can appear at most once per in-game day.
Navigation
Guiding wisps use custom terrain-aware movement. They inspect the route ahead, avoid static obstacles such as rocks
and trees, follow steep terrain and search for alternative routes when blocked.
If a wisp stops making progress, it can attempt a wider detour, return along its last safe route or relocate to a
validated nearby position as a final recovery measure.
