True Hardcore Nuzlocke Mode

True Hardcore Nuzlocke Mode

This is Nuzlocke mode. I have beaten this game more times than is reasonable and still wanted something harder, so I spent a long time building this properly. One life. A land already picked clean, food that spoils, exploits closed, villages with long memories, and fights genuinely worth fearing. Made it PTF so it works alongside your other mods.

tl;dr - Brutal self-imposed restrictions of the "Hardcore Mode" variety for people who think HC is still too easy.

Disclaimer
Read this part before you download. Skills are like real life, bandits aren't rich, raw meat goes bad fast, the drying trick is gone, villages hold grudges you cannot outrun, and one fair fight can end a run you have poured a hundred hours into. Inspired by nuzlocke self-imposed condition mods in other games. This is a roleplaying experience, meant to be played with a single life, which is the only way any of it makes sense. PTF btw, so your other mods survive but I still only recommend visual (graphics/UI) and performance mods alongside this.

Description

Still here? Okay. The intention of this mod is to turn every encounter, every choice and every pivotal moment in the game into one that has real consequences. You didn’t just fall off a cliff, you arrived in a land where no one knows you and nobody could care less if you live or die. Examples?

[]Got caught stealing? You better know how to run and fast.[/]
[]Want to walk around covered in blood? Expect locals to flee and guards to want to have a word.[/]
[]Think you can make it halfway across the county with all that unrefrigerated meat you just poached? Yeah, nah.[/]
[]Insulted a guard? He's going to tell his friends.[/]
Sneak carefully, and carry a bigger sword than anyone else.

Testing Criteria
After beating the game half a dozen times in multiple different ways and with other hardcore mods. I just wasn’t satisfied with any of them.
So I spent weeks tuning and testing these settings and after almost 600 hours. I am confident that I have created the experience I personally really wanted. Not everything has been changed, but over 500 different mechanics, that lean on another 400+ changes have been carefully tweaked and tested.

Your first run from scratch could take 100 hours. Everything has been deliberately built around the vanilla questing experience, so the game will feel familiar yet operate very differently. If you have never played KCD2 before, this will probably make you hate the game. Nuzlocke modes are generally for people who are so familiar with a game that 'vanilla' is too boring. If you know the game well, this should actually test your skills well.

Vortex
[]Download with the mod manager and hit install.[/]
[]Enable it.[/]
[]That is the whole process. There is no load order to worry about and nothing to configure.[/]
Manual
[]Open the archive and extract the folder inside it.[/]
[]Drop that folder into your game's Mods directory, so you end up with:
Kingdom Come Deliverance II\Mods\Nuzlocke\
with a mod.manifest and a Data folder with the .pak file inside that.[/
]
[]If there is no Mods folder yet, make one. The game reads it on startup.[/]
Uninstalling
Disable it in Vortex, or delete the folder if you installed manually. Anything that has already spoiled in your inventory stays spoiled, but nothing breaks.

NOTE: Like traditional Nuzlocke modes nothing in the game enforces that for you, and that is precisely the point. Whether or not you want to trash your run  eg. after dying is up to you. Combine it with Hardcore 1-life if you wish.

[heading]Requirements[/heading]
[]Nothing. No script extender, no framework, no dependencies, no other mods or any mod manager needed.[/]
[]Any game version. The manifest is version agnostic, so patches will not break it and it will not need reuploading every time Warhorse ships an update.[/]
[]Safe on an existing save. You can add it mid playthrough to get a feel for it if you want.[/]
[]One important restriction. For the intended experience, do not run other mechanic or skill altering mods. Graphical changes to NPCs, texture work, UI tweaks and performance mods are all fine. Everything in here leans on something else in this mod, and trying to change one thing is considered a 'cheat'. Please don't ask "Does it work with 'x'?"[/]
[]Why it is safe. Every change ships as a Patched Table File (PTF), which means it edits only the exact lines it needs instead of overwriting whole game files. If another PTF mod happens to change one of the same lines, the order DOES matter, so you'll have to figure that out yourself.[/]
Important
[]No changes to the MSQ. You can still complete the game, no need for charisma cheats etc. to get to the wedding. I've beat the game multiple times using just this one mod .pak[/]
[]Compatible with any language. I deliberately didn't change any text in the game whatsoever.[/]
[]If it breaks or you want a 'different version', just ask and I'll see what I can do. Can't promise to test it though as much as I have this.[/]

[heading]Credits[/heading]
A big thanks to everyone who has made mods for this game. Seeing what people were willing to pull apart and rebuild is what finally pushed me into making my own.

Thanks to the folks documenting the Patched Table File approach and the game's table structure. Building this cleanly would not have been possible without that work being written down first.

And thanks to Warhorse, for making a game worth being this unreasonable about lmao.

P.S. This is my first submission. So go easy. If you want to support my work, please just click download. That's all I ask lol.
