Swap Players in Battle

Swap Players in Battle

Drag and drop patch mod that allows for swapping in a different party member at the start of each player's turn in combat.

Description
Adds a battle wheel button to swap active characters in combat with current benched ones. Swaps are properly gated for fairness by reasonable game actions, so once you use a free aim you forfeit your swap for that turn. You similarly forfeit once you're on the second turn of any 'play again' action (gradient, skill, shortcut, cheater, etc.). Swapped in characters earn full victory perks (XP, mastery) as long as they actually take an action in combat. Full list of mod feature found in the mods readme and also in the articles tab.

Main features
Adds more variety and potential strategic approach to combat. Modifies existing hud elements and repurposes some non-combat ones to serve as the swap scaffolding. This mod has taken about 2 months to write, with over a week just fixing bugs on the final tester itself. Its a major rewrite of game mechanics, leveraging internal death and resurrection states to create a summonable "reserve/bench", and preserving as many vanilla gameplay features as possible through that swap.

Requirements
Modded surface area is moderate. However it does need both AC_jRPG_BattleManager and AC_jRPG_CharacterBattleStats so you need to check that any combat mods you use dont also edit those files as they wont be compatible. Other than that, it modifies some widget UIs that I doubt anyone would ever patch, and also contains a bunch of mod-only assets I built in unreal engine. This mod will NOT work with my "Bigger Party" mod, as they both need the same main asset in order to function. I would personally recommend Party Swap for a normal playthrough and Bigger Party for a playthrough where you mod the difficulty to be harder.
