2024 Metamagic
Updates metamagics to more closely match the D&D 2024 rules.
查看大图The 2024 rules for D&D rebalanced metamagics a bit, making more of the alternatives viable. This mod brings some of the changes to BG3.
Twinned Spell
When you cast a spell, such as Charm Person, that can be cast with a higher-level spell slot to target an additional creature, you can spend 1 Sorcery Point to increase the spell’s effective level by 1.
Changed from affecting spells that target only one creature to spells that can be upcast to target additional creatures.
Cost lowered from 1 per spell level to plain 1.
Quickened Spell
When you cast a spell that has a casting time of an action, you can spend 2 Sorcery Points to change the casting time to a Bonus Action for this casting. You can’t modify a spell in this way if you’ve already cast a level 1+ spell on the current turn, nor can you cast a level 1+ spell on this turn after modifying a spell in this way.
Now can't be used after casting a level 1+ spell in the same turn, and blocks casting of level 1+ spells after use.
Cost lowered from 3 to 2.
Heightened Spell
When you cast a spell that forces a creature to make a saving throw, you can spend 2 Sorcery Points to give one* target of the spell Disadvantage on saves against the spell.*
Hybrid version due to technical limitations:
Still gives all targets disadvantage on the first save as in BG3.
Now also gives the first individually selected target disadvantage on all saves against the spell's condition, where applicable and compatible.
Cost lowered from 3 to 2.
Bugfixes
A handful of twinnable spells incorrectly allow the same target to be selected multiple times.
This mod gives them the missing IgnorePreviouslyPickedEntities flag to prevent double-picking.
Known Issues
Heightened Spell's continued disadvantage against saves only works for non-AoE spells implemented in a relatively straightforward way, and only for the condition listed in the spell tooltip.
Re-casting a spell that is already affecting the same target may cause the Heightened Spell continued effect to drop or fail to apply.
Game limitation: Twinned Spell prohibits selecting the same target twice, even when the spell would normally allow it.
Compatibility
This mod only touches the three mentioned metamagics. It can be used together with mods that add or change other metamagics without issue. When using another mod that changes the same metamagics, the mod placed later (lower) in the load order will overwrite earlier mods. Make sure to place this mod after other metamagic mods if you want its changes.
This mod patches the target conditions of hundreds of spells, including ones added by mods. This is required to implement Twinned Spell's new criteria without my having to be aware of every spell mod in existence.
Patching is done dynamically on startup via Script Extender and shouldn't cause any conflicts with other mods as long as they're properly written. I can't guarantee this won't break things if a spell has syntax errors. Unfortunately BG3 is quite lenient in accepting garbage input, and not all mods are properly written.
