NCLives Companion Framework

NCLives Companion Framework

Spend quality time with the main characters of Cyberpunk. Mod adds new conversations, enables taking them on gigs, or just walk around the city together. (Hit endorse if you enjoy the mod)

Night City is full of people V supposedly loves, but after their questlines finish you never see them again. NCLives gives you much more time with the amazing characters of Cyberpunk as someone who has a life, spends time with you, has opinions, and gets hungry.

This companion framework brings you EIGHT people to explore Night City with.
Call Panam, Judy, River, Kerry, Goro, Claire or Rogue, and now Lucy out into the city. Have them follow you, talk to them, take them out to dinner.
Note: Jackie Welles has his own mod called JackieLives. Because his situation was... precarious and required some delicacy.
Lucy from Edgerunners also has her own companion mod. <- real voice actor lines coming soon!

The mod is available in English, 日本語, Español, Deutsch, Français, Italiano, Polski, Português (BR),Русский and 简体中文. Select your language in Esc -> Mods -> NCLives

Latest updates (V 1.9)
NEW FEATURES:
- V now speaks with original voice lines (with audio! No extra dependencies needed)
- Night City Allies support — our Talk row is added to their menu instead of fighting them for the screen. One menu: their commands, our conversations. (Work in progress, but should integrate better now)
- 0-Engine compatibility (optional; shares the mod stack's per-frame state).
- Seating notice + "Seat them here" in CET menu, proper seating is still in progress.

Fixed issues:
- The fast-travel crash — three separate causes, all closed.
- Companions left behind by a fast travel now always come back
- Naked companions on arrival (Kerry especially)
- Companions trailing slowly instead of walking beside you during a dinner outing.
- Bikes: your companion wouldn't ride along after you'd asked them to dinner.
- A fast travel no longer destroys an in-progress dinner (marker vanishing, dinner un-startable).

Features

- The Talk key is now rebindable, and F can be handed back to other mods
- In the Esc / Mods Menu useful settings are found, such as Male vs. Female V selection and Waifu mode" for romance-leaning conversations

💬 Panam and Judy now open up over time as they get to know you better
🚶 They move like people now: they learn your walking pace and match it, look at you, and walking beside you should feel more natural
📞 Call them through V's phone or pick a name in the NCLives CET window — they walk in and follow you through the city, into fights, wherever you're going.
💬Actually talk to them. Walk up, look at them, press F. Branching conversations written per character: how they're holding up, what they're working on, what they don't want to talk about. Choices open into deeper branches; nobody has one canned greeting.
🍜 Take them to dinner. Offered the moment they arrive — no waiting period. (Warning: sitting down does not work yet)
👋 Send them off properly. "Head home, Kerry — I got it from here." They say something, walk away, and go. They also head home on their own after a while; dinner resets that clock.
💾 Your save remembers who was with you. Load a save and the right person comes back.
👥 They won't walk past themselves. Claire tends the Afterlife bar; Rogue is there too. So if you get near a place a companion canonically spends time at they'll make an excuse and head off.

A known issue is that the companions doesn't sit on the chairs at the venues, this needs to be fixed in the next update.
In the meantime, you may use this tutorial in order to refine the seat positions manually:

They have to know you first: Each one is written for a specific point in their story, if you and the characters don't have any relationship yet they won't show up.
They speak in subtitles, not voice. Audio is too big to handle right now.

Everyone has catch-up lines that only appear once you've actually done the thing with them — Nash in the Badlands, the yacht in Japantown, the dive at
Laguna Bend, dinner at Joss's, the drive-in with Johnny. Finir see them; they don't reference a history you don't have.(These stay hidden until the matching quest flags are captured in-game — see Known Issues.)

Install

Drop the bin folder into your Cyberpunk 2077 directory, or in/ MO2. You should end up with Cyberpunk2077\bin\x64\plugins\cyber_engine_tweaks\mods\NCLives\init.lua.

To uninstall, delete that folder — dismiss your companion first so nothing is left standing in your save.

How to use it

Optional hotkeys (summon / call / dismiss / show window) are s. Talking needs no binding — it uses your normal Interact key.

Future additions

- More dinner locations
- Shedules for each character so they have a believable life
- Fixing some inevitable bugs.

Honest limitations / known issues
- In the current version (V1.6) calling quest characters for a quest is broken by this mod. This is a bug and will be removed ASAP
- If you have NCAllies installed the interaction button [F] causes a conflict. Fix: change the key binding (see comments)
- Companions are AMM-spawned NPCs, so they inherit AMM quirks: they can lose you in tight interiors and during scripted scenes. If one gets stuck, dismiss and re-summon (AMM will become optional on the next patch!)
- Subtitles only,  no voices. This is by design due to workload. See above.
- One companion at a time. Switching retires the current one first, and is refused mid-conversation or mid-arrival (the window tells you why).
- Goro, Claire and Rogue's records and outfits are unconfirmed and may show up wrong
- Don't take them into main-story missions. That's your biz.
- Test on a backup save first to be certain.
