DESCRIPTION

Doctrine Wrist Sheath adds the Concealed Magnetic Sheath, a new standalone cyberware installed in the Hands slot.

The sheath can be linked to one real knife or compatible throwing weapon from V's inventory. The exact selected weapon instance is preserved, including its quality, statistics, modifications and attachments.

While linked, the weapon is concealed by the implant and removed from the normal inventory, equipment and vendor interfaces.

While Fists, Gorilla Arms, Mantis Blades or Monowire are active, press the Reload input to draw the linked weapon directly into V's hand.

On keyboard, the default input is R.

Reload was deliberately selected because this input has no normal function while Fists or these arm cyberwares are active. Doctrine Wrist Sheath therefore reuses an otherwise unused input instead of requiring an additional keybind.

The linked weapon does not permanently occupy one of V's three standard weapon slots. When V switches away from it, the weapon remains linked to the sheath and can be drawn again whenever needed.

The weapon can still be used normally after being drawn, including normal melee attacks and throwing-weapon mechanics.

Doctrine Wrist Sheath also includes compatibility handling for the Juggler perk and for supported returning or unconventional throwing weapons.

/!\ PERSISTENT HIDDEN WEAPON STORAGE

Version 2.0 introduces persistent hidden storage for the linked knife or compatible throwing weapon.

Once linked, the exact weapon instance is transferred out of V's normal inventory and stored persistently by the Concealed Magnetic Sheath. The weapon is never cloned or recreated. Its exact ItemID, Tier, statistics, modifications and attachments are preserved.

Drawing the weapon transfers that same instance back to V. Concealing it again returns it to the sheath's hidden storage.

IMPORTANT — THE LINKED WEAPON REMAINS STORED IN THE SHEATH EVEN WHEN THE CYBERWARE IS UNEQUIPPED.
IMPORTANT — UNLINK THE WEAPON BEFORE SWAPPING OR REMOVING THE SHEATH IF YOU WANT IT RETURNED TO V'S INVENTORY.

Re-equipping the same Concealed Magnetic Sheath restores access to the weapon that was left linked to it.

RECENT IMPROVEMENTS AND PLAYER-REQUESTED FEATURES

Contextual interactions take priority over Doctrine inputs

When the Reload input is being used by an active contextual interaction, that interaction takes priority over the sheath.

This prevents Doctrine Wrist Sheath from interfering with actions such as Stealth Finishers or other contextual actions assigned to the same input.

Protection against vanilla mission disarm systems

Weapons linked to the sheath are excluded from the transfers performed by the vanilla security-locker and quest disarm system.

This is designed to allow a weapon concealed inside the cyberware to remain hidden during missions in which V's visible weapons are normally confiscated.

The protection specifically targets the vanilla disarm-transfer system. Individual quest implementations using completely separate mechanics may behave differently.

Juggler compatibility

Additional compatibility handling has been added so that the Juggler perk and its throwing-weapon behavior do not break the sheath's link to the concealed weapon.

Extended Tier 5 progression

Tier 5+ and Tier 5++ now provide genuine progression beyond the normal Tier 5 value rather than merely delaying the original maximum bonus.

HOW TO USE

[]Purchase and install the Concealed Magnetic Sheath at any ripperdoc.[/]
[]Open the Cyberware menu.[/]
[]Select the Concealed Magnetic Sheath and open its Weapon Integration panel.[/]
[]Select a compatible knife or throwing weapon from V's inventory.[/]
[]Equip Fists, Gorilla Arms, Mantis Blades or Monowire.[/]
[]Press the Reload input — R by default on keyboard — to draw the linked weapon.[/]

The Weapon Integration panel can be accessed from the Cyberware menu at any time.

You do not need to visit a ripperdoc to link, unlink or replace the weapon.

Only weapons of the same Tier as the installed sheath, or a lower Tier, can be linked to it.

For example, a Tier 3 sheath can accept Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 weapons, but cannot accept Tier 4 or Tier 5 weapons.

If the Projectile Launch System is installed, switch to Fists before pressing Reload to draw the linked weapon.

FIRST LAUNCH AND RIPPERDOC STOCKS

After installing Doctrine Wrist Sheath and loading your save, wait approximately 24 in-game hours for ripperdoc inventories to refresh.

The Concealed Magnetic Sheath may not appear immediately in existing ripperdoc stocks until this refresh has occurred.

COMPATIBILITY

Doctrine Wrist Sheath accepts normal knives and throwing weapons recognized by its standard compatibility filters.

Modded weapons using compatible vanilla weapon categories should work automatically.

Weapons using a custom or otherwise unsupported item type can be made compatible by adding the following tag to their item record:

DoctrineWristSheathCompatible

The Ranger Combat Boomerang is specifically supported through its own compatibility handling.

Doctrine Wrist Sheath and Doctrine Wrist Holster use the same Hands cyberware category and cannot be equipped simultaneously.

The standalone sheath shares the same synchronized architecture as the version included in Doctrine Wrist Arsenal.

Special thanks to Acired for proposing the idea that ultimately led to the persistent hidden-storage architecture introduced in Version 2.0.

Special thanks to Seijax, creator of Extra Hands. The Magnetic Wrist Sheath included in Extra Hands introduced the concealed-knife concept that inspired me to create Doctrine Wrist Sheath as a dedicated standalone cyberware. Extra Hands also adds several original Hands cyberware options designed for different weapon types and playstyles. Players interested in expanding the Hands cyberware category are strongly encouraged to download, support and endorse the original mod.

Additional thanks to Phoenicia, creator of Neuralware – Chipware Expansion. Neuralware – Chipware Expansion demonstrated how the vanilla cyberware modification interface could be adapted for specialized cyberware systems and served as an important technical reference during development. Thanks to Phoenicia for allowing the relevant interface patterns to be studied and adapted for this independent project. Players interested in a much deeper neuralware and chipware system are encouraged to discover and support the original mod.
